Department Responsibilities & Duties
The Community Development Department prepares changes to the Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Code and provides information about these documents, as well as various zoning codes, to the residents, property owners, and business owners of Groveland.
The department serves as liaison to the Local Planning Agency, the Mayor, and City Council in the review of applications for rezoning, subdivisions, conditional uses, annexations, and site plans. It also advises applicants about the review process, notifies adjacent property owners of sites under review, and provides consistency in decisions related to the Comprehensive Plan.
The department serves as liaison to the Metropolitan Planning Organization and regional planning and community affairs committees, and researches and prepares reports on emerging issues. It reviews plans to ensure compliance with Architectural Design Guidelines. Community Development coordinates business and residential redevelopment, as well as improvement and enhancement activities within the Groveland community.
