Parks & Community Services

Mike WalkerMike Walker was hired by the City of Groveland in March 2019 as the Manager of Special Events, to become the Director of Parks and Community Services in October 2019. Prior to his hire to the City of Groveland, Mike worked with the City of Brooksville for 15 years as the Parks and Recreation Director.

Prior to his public service management career, Mike played professional baseball for four teams; the Cleveland Indians, the Detroit Tigers, the Chicago Cubs and the Cincinnati Reds. Over a career that spanned 14 years, Mike played a portion of 5 seasons in the Major Leagues.  Mike enjoyed many accolades as a pitcher; and his game hat as a winning pitcher in the Cubs 9000th franchise win in 1995 is enshrined in baseball’s Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York.

Mike’s passion in parks and recreation is to provide quality programs and services to the residents of Groveland, and to those who visit our City with Natural Charm. His hobbies are raising and showing Shorthorn cattle, and will enjoy a hot dog and soda at a youth league athletic field while enjoying a good game of any sport!
